Alignment Assessments
Alignment assessments are often done through web based
surveys, phone or in-person interviews, document reviews and direct
observations. Input is typically obtained from customers, suppliers,
staff and other key stakeholders.
The input gathered can include
identification of key issues, disconnects, customer dissatisfaction and
organizational blind spots as well as suggestions for improvement.
Types of assessments available include:
- Organization Assessments
- Business Practices Assessments
- Process Assessments
- Project Assessments
- Team Assessments
The assessments culminate in a visual report showing
strengths, marginal areas and weak spots plus practical recommendations
for moving forward. A follow up progress
check-in two weeks and one month later with the project sponsor and
leader is included free of charge.
Alignment
Workshops
Alignment workshops are often conducted in a
series of weekly 2-4 hour sessions. If the situation is urgent, a
complete workshop could be held in 8-16 hours in a week or as a weekend
retreat.
In every workshop, representatives from
the relevant departments work together to learn new strategies and tools
and apply them to the interdepartmental improvement task they have been
assigned. Between workshop
sessions, one-on-one meetings are held with the project sponsor and project
leader to discuss emerging issues related to buy-in, commitment,
barriers to progress as well as recognize good contributions and
results. Typical interdepartmental workshops
address one or more of the following improvement tasks.
- Goals and metrics alignment
- Points of contact clarification
- Rules of engagement agreement
- Roles & responsibilities clarification
- Customer communications alignment
- Hand offs improvement -
Interdependencies management -
Process design or improvement -
Working globally/virtually
- Best practices sharing & deployment
- Lessons learned capture & deployment
The workshops culminate with a visual
presentation to management of improvement recommendations, success
metrics, an implementation plan, implementation responsibilities,
expected risks and a proposed progress assurance process.
